uL

uL (a.k.a Microlinux) is a tiny (14 MB) Linux distribution providing minimal command line interface utilities. It fits in a few mega bytes and can be installed on the smallest USB Flash drive or on older hard disks.

Lacking in both any X Window management and any specific, cutting edge application, uL obviously does not intend to compete with more comprehensive Linux distributions and, as a matter of fact, is not comparable even with the smaller, better built ones.

Indeed, uL can hardly be classified as distribution, as its main purpose is to serve Linux almost-beginners as a tutorial, as a hands-on guide line allowing to set up a bootable Linux system in a few, simple steps and, even more important, to understand the inner logic of a typical linux system.
